- We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Maintenance Technician to join a plastic recycling and compounding plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for general equipment maintenance, workshop upkeep, preventative maintenance checks, and basic repairs.
- This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is mechanically inclined and eager to learn and develop their maintenance skills, with in-house training provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Sharpening and changing blades on granulators.
- Performing bearing changes and basic equipment repairs.
- Carrying out basic plumbing and maintenance tasks.
- Greasing designated points on plant equipment.
- Conducting oil changes and routine equipment maintenance.
- Performing basic 220V electrical tasks, such as replacing 3-pin plugs on extension leads.
- Changing and carrying out basic repairs to bandsaw blades.
- Completing monthly inspection and maintenance checklists for equipment and tools.
- Inspecting stepladders, extension leads and fire-fighting equipment.
- Maintaining accurate stock levels of maintenance spares, including nuts, bolts, bearings, V-belts and blades.
- Keeping the workshop clean, organised and well maintained.
- Taking proper care of tools and equipment.
- Identifying maintenance issues and reporting faults promptly.
- Following all workplace health, safety and housekeeping procedures.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a maintenance, mechanical or technical environment will be advantageous.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and practical problem-solving ability.
- Basic electrical knowledge, particularly 220V equipment.
- Comfortable working with hand and workshop tools.
- Good understanding of general equipment maintenance.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to preventative maintenance.
- Good organisational and housekeeping skills.
- Reliable, responsible and willing to learn.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
