- The Rockefeller Hotel is seeking a proactive and hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead the day-to-day maintenance operations of the property. This role is responsible for ensuring that all hotel facilities, equipment, and guest areas are maintained to the highest standards, providing a safe, functional, and exceptional environment for both guests and employees.
- The successful candidate will supervise the maintenance team, coordinate preventative maintenance programmes, respond to maintenance requests, oversee contractors where required, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. A strong focus on quality, operational efficiency, and guest satisfaction is essential.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a maintenance supervisory role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
- Experience with preventative maintenance planning and asset management.
- Good understanding of Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standard.
- Plan, schedule, and monitor preventative maintenance programmes for all hotel facilities, plant, equipment, and guest areas.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests, prioritising work to minimise disruption to hotel operations and the guest experience.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house facilities, and equipment to identify maintenance requirements and ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Oversee repairs relating to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance, either personally or through the maintenance team.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety OHS legislation, fire safety regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Monitor and maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, asset registers, and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Manage maintenance inventory, tools, equipment, and spare parts, ensuring stock levels are controlled and procurement requests are submitted when required.
- Liaise with external contractors and service providers, ensuring work is completed according to agreed service levels and quality standards.
- Support the preparation and management of the departmental maintenance budget by controlling costs and identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies.
- Assist with the implementation of sustainability initiatives, including energy, water, and waste reduction programmes where applicable.
- Train, coach, and develop maintenance team members to improve technical skills, productivity, and service standards.
- Collaborate with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and other departments to ensure maintenance issues are resolved promptly and guest satisfaction is maintained.
- Participate in emergency response procedures and be available to respond to urgent maintenance issues outside of normal working hours when required.
- Drive the use of maintenance management systems and digital reporting tools to improve tracking, accountability, and operational performance.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as required to support the operational needs of the hotel.
