Maintenance Storeman / Handyman

An exciting opportunity is available for a reliable and hands-on Maintenance Storeman / Handyman to join a busy hospitality environment.

This role is ideal for an organised individual with experience in stock control, maintenance stores and inventory management. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate stock levels, ensuring efficient store operations and supporting the maintenance department through effective inventory control and general store administration.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect and verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes

• Organise and maintain maintenance stores to ensure stock is accurately stored and easily accessible

• Issue stock to internal departments and assist with related errands

• Maintain accurate stock records and inventory control systems

• Participate in monthly stock counts and full stock takes

• Identify and report stock discrepancies, shortages, damaged or obsolete stock

• Monitor stock levels and assist with stock optimisation initiatives

• Process invoices, quotations and supporting documentation accurately

• Source materials and obtain supplier quotations where required

• Assist with maintaining housekeeping, cleanliness and safety within the stores

• Support team members by sharing best practices and maintaining efficient store procedures

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Grade 12 (Matric)

• Minimum 2–3 years' experience within a hospitality stores, warehouse, receiving or logistics environment

• Sound knowledge of stock control, inventory management and FIFO principles

• Knowledge of electrical and plumbing materials is essential

• Ability to source materials and compare supplier quotations

• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)

• Experience with stock control systems and digital record keeping

• Good numerical ability and attention to detail

• Excellent communication and organisational skills

• Reliable, trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality

• Well presented with sober habits

• Physically fit and able to move and handle stock

• Ability to work effectively under pressure
