Key Performance Areas
- Drive rapid response maintenance to ensure minimal equipment downtime and efficient fault resolution across the shift team
- Ensure timely capture and feedback of maintenance activities, with high completion and data accuracy standards
- Oversee timely closure of maintenance work orders and preventative maintenance tasks in line with site standards
- Maintain overall equipment effectiveness by actively managing and reducing unplanned downtime
- Conduct regular downtime analysis and support structured root cause investigations to prevent recurrence
- Promote and sustain equipment reliability by monitoring failure trends and implementing corrective actions
- Identify and address operational inefficiencies and safety risks in line with site continuous improvement requirements
- Manage overtime allocation within legislative and operational limits, ensuring accurate timekeeping and workforce control
- Ensure all shift-based inspections, checks, and autonomous maintenance activities are completed on schedule and to standard
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma in Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering NQF Level 6
- Proven supervisory experience in a technical maintenance environment
- Strong background in automation systems within a manufacturing setting automotive preferred
- Minimum 5 years' experience as an Instrumentation or Maintenance Technician in an industrial environment
- Strong experience with industrial PLC systems and automation fault-finding
- Experience with advanced automation control platforms at least 3 years' exposure
- Experience with industrial robotics in a high-volume production environment at least 3 years' exposure
- Experience with machine vision or automated inspection systems at least 3 years' exposure
- Working knowledge of mechanical press systems or heavy production machinery at least 3 years' exposure
- Demonstrated leadership capability including performance management, delegation, and conflict handling
Skills Required
- Strong communication and shift coordination skills
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving ability in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering schematics
- Experience with automation systems, robotics, and PLC-based control environments
- Ability to train, cross-skill, and develop junior technical staff
- Strong planning and prioritisation skills under production pressure
