Start free — we apply for you →- The Maintenance Planner will be responsible for administering planned maintenance system, scheduling maintenance tasks, as well as purchasing of engineering spares and stock keeping thereof.
- You will also be responsible for maximise the effectiveness of the equipment & maintenance team through accurate work planning, control & resource management.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Complete preventative maintenance schedule with allocation of jobs to individual artisans.
- Allocation of ad-hoc breakdowns and repairs to artisans
- Procurement and stock keeping of routine and critical spares for engineering stores.
- Ensure availability through well-maintained equipment that function according to specifications.
- Upgraded equipment/technology functioning more efficiently than before.
- Electrical/electronic equipment has been installed on new projects/production lines.
- Liaising with Maintenance Coordinator / Manager / Site engineer on external suppliers or contract work requirements
Core Responsibilities
- Work Order Preparation: Define the scope of work, step-by-step instructions, and estimated task durations using a Computerized Maintenance Management System CMMS.
- Resource Coordination: Identify and secure required spare parts, specialist tools, external contractors, and labor.
- Preventive Maintenance PM: Design and manage routine and predictive maintenance schedules to prevent unexpected equipment failures.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all jobs include necessary safety documentation, risk assessments, and permits such as lockout/tagout.
- Inventory & Cost Tracking: Monitor spare parts inventory levels, order missing supplies, and forecast maintenance expenses.
- Cross-Department Liaison: Act as a bridge between the maintenance crew, stockroom, procurement, and production operations.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE
Key Requirements & Skills
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial equipment, mechanical systems, and repair procedures.
- Software Proficiency: Experience using CMMS platforms such as DMS/ SAP for asset and work order management.
- Organizational Abilities: Excellent time management, problem-solving, and multitasking skills to handle shifting priorities and emergencies.
- Communication: Clear verbal and written skills to coordinate teams and explain job packages effectively.
Requirements
- Mechanical/ Electrical relevant trade, S4 or B-Tech with minimum of at least 5 years in planning.
