Location: Bloemfontein, Free State Position: Permanent Salary: R20 000R30 000 per month, negotiable up to R35 000 for exceptional experience
A well-established food manufacturing company is looking for a qualified Maintenance Fitter to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair industrial production machinery and equipment.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
- Qualified Fitter with a recognised Trade Test Certificate
- At least 5 years post-trade experience
- Strong mechanical and manufacturing experience
- Experience in the food manufacturing industry would be advantageous
- Good mechanical and electrical knowledge
- Valid Code 8 drivers licence
- Own reliable transport
- Willingness to work standby after hours when required
- Must be medically fit to perform the duties of the position
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily inspections of machinery and equipment
- Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance
- Attend to breakdowns and complete repairs
- Diagnose mechanical faults and identify their root causes
- Install, upgrade and modify production equipment
- Fit and assemble metal components and machine parts
- Work with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electromechanical systems
- Participate in scheduled shutdown maintenance
- Complete job cards and maintenance documentation
- Report major faults to the Maintenance Manager
- Supervise and guide maintenance assistants
- Mentor staff and share technical knowledge
- Follow lockout procedures, safety checks and permit requirements
- Maintain high housekeeping, hygiene and food-safety standards
- Comply with OHS, HACCP and company procedures
