Job Title: Maintenance Assistant Start Date: 2026-08-03 - 2026-09-02 Vacancy Type: Temp MR000523 Sectors: Automotive Location: Gauteng , Midrand Salary: Brief: Our client in the automotive industry is seeking a reliable and hands-on Maintenance Assistant to join their team on a contractual basis in Midrand . The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out general maintenance, repairs, cleaning, and upkeep of the facility to ensure that the premises remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. The role includes performing basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs, monitoring building systems, maintaining inventory levels, and escalating complex maintenance issues to qualified technicians when required. Detail: Minimum Requirements Grade 12 / Matric Certificate Previous 1-2 Years maintenance experience in a similar environment Technical qualification will be advantageous Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and carpentry Ability to deputise as Second-in-Charge (2IC) when required Willingness to work overtime as operational requirements dictate Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team Key Duties and Responsibilities Perform general cleaning of floors, windows, common areas, restrooms, and surrounding premises. Ensure proper waste removal and maintain a clean and safe working environment. Carry out minor maintenance and repair work, including: Repairing basic plumbing leaks Replacing light bulbs Adjusting door hinges Patching minor wall damage Addressing basic electrical issues Conduct routine inspections of equipment and building systems to identify potential maintenance concerns. Perform preventative maintenance tasks, including lubricating machinery and equipment where required. Maintain outdoor areas by weeding, trimming bushes, and removing debris. Report major repair requirements and maintenance concerns to the appropriate technical personnel. Assist with painting, basic carpentry work, and minor furniture repairs. Support, motivate, and contribute to the development of the maintenance team. Take ownership of assigned tasks and ensure maintenance activities are completed efficiently and to a high standard. Act as a 2IC when required, assisting with the coordination and supervision of maintenance activities.
