Start free — we apply for you →PURPOSE OF THE JOB To safely carry out preventive maintenance and repairs to the plant in line with planned, unplanned, breakdown and documented work. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Safety, Health, Environment and Quality: Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc. Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk Participate and comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox) Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate and report SHEQ status People: Manage the Section: Ensure an enabling climate/culture Manage labour stability by minimising labour turnover Labour complement in line with budget Achieve HDSA/Female targets for the Section Manage performance against set targets and competencies Ensure IDP’s are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan Conduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent (quarterly) Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.) Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels Conduct recruitment interviews Customers: Ensure Customer Satisfact Business Processes: Apply fault-finding techniques and assist with root cause failure analysis Maintain and repair electrical parts, components and equipment as well as Low Voltage, Medium Voltage and High Voltage electrical equipment (as applicable to the plant) Perform Medium and High Voltage switching as and when required when trained, proven competent and appointed in writing Maintain, repair and replace mechanical parts, components and equipment when required Execute breakdown work orders, create notifications, perform daily work order confirmations, provide accurate feedback and generate orders on the SAP system Performing work in a safe and reliable manner ensuring the highest level of workmanship Communicate if spares, equipment or other factors were not available for job on the work order and to the Maintenance Supervisor Conduct regular plant inspection and report non-conformance and deviations to standards to Supervisors Monitoring the operational conditions of machinery and equipment Carrying out routine maintenance on a production equipment and tools to ensure legal (OSHA) and operational compliance Perform tasks related to advanced rigging after relevant training completed Perform possible duties as Lifting Tackle Inspector if appointed Perform basic fault finding and repairs to drives, soft starters and star delta Have an understanding of PLCs and discrete inputs and outputs to facilitate fault-finding and repairs Work from heights and in confined spaces and follow the various procedures related to such Perform basic electrical calculations in relation to DOL, Drive and related protection settings Perform general housekeeping as part of the relevant tasks allocated Basic Boiler making (Arc Welding and Gas cutting) Routable Management: Change out item Create PM order detailing item to be drawn from stock Create reservation for rotable on PM order Create subsequent notification Complete all fields on the “Damage” tag on the return item to rotable store Physically transport damaged rotable to lay down area Mobile Equipment: Lift and move loads by means of a Forklift Handle loads by means of an Overhead Crane, Hoist and or Lifting Tackle and or machinery Operate Aerial/Boom/Cherri Picker Operate Manitou and or Tractor when and if so required when licenced Skills Based Pay Activities: The three identified skills are as follows: LOPT This skill requires The training of the artisan on mobile equipment as used by the relevant department/area The operation of mobile equipment when needed Project Owner This skill is defined and applied in accordance with the Project Owner Roles & Responsibilities Procedure (FMT-SW-PRO-002). Advanced Rigging and LTI This skill requires The training of the artisan on advanced rigging and Lifting Tackle Inspection. And the application of advanced rigging skills as needed in the department. The application of Lifting Tackle Inspection skills as needed in the department.
