Detail: Minimum Requirements Qualified Artisan Trade Test (Fitter & Turner, Toolmaker, Turner/Machinist, Millwright, Fitter, Boilermaker or similar). N4–N6 Mechanical Engineering advantageous. 8+ years' experience in a machine shop or heavy engineering environment. 3+ years' supervisory experience leading artisans or machinists. Strong machine build, repair, refurbishment and maintenance experience. Able to read engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances. Experience in heavy manufacturing, steel, mining or industrial engineering preferred. Knowledge of preventative maintenance, job card systems and ISO standards Key Responsibilities Supervise and lead the daily activities of the machine shop and workshop team. Plan, allocate and monitor workshop jobs, priorities and resources. Oversee machine builds, rebuilds, repairs and refurbishment projects. Support plant reliability through preventative maintenance and breakdown recovery. Ensure high standards of machining, fitting, tooling and quality workmanship. Interpret engineering drawings and verify tolerances and specifications. Manage job cards, technical documentation and workshop records. Control workshop tooling, consumables, spares and inventory. Coordinate outsourced machining and specialist engineering services when required. Drive continuous improvement in workshop processes, tooling and manufacturing methods. Maintain compliance with safety, housekeeping and ISO quality standards. Coach, mentor and develop artisans, machinists and apprentices.
