This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys building production-ready AI solutions, deploying scalable machine learning systems and working with the latest advancements in artificial intelligence. The position is fully remote within South Africa and is offered on a 12-month contract with strong potential for permanent employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and deploy production-grade machine learning solutions.
- Build and maintain scalable ML platforms, data pipelines and AI infrastructure.
- Develop AI-powered applications, APIs and intelligent automation solutions.
- Implement MLOps best practices, including CI/CD, monitoring and model deployment.
- Collaborate with data scientists, BI specialists, DevOps engineers and software developers.
- Optimise model performance and support end-to-end AI solution delivery.
- Contribute to AI platform development and continuous innovation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
- Intermediate or Senior experience in Machine Learning Engineering.
- Strong Python and SQL development skills.
- Hands-on AWS experience is essential.
- Experience with the complete machine learning lifecycle, including training, deployment, monitoring and optimisation.
- Knowledge of scalable ML infrastructure and AI application development.
- Strong software engineering principles and clean coding practices.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders.
Advantageous
- AWS certifications.
- Experience with AWS Bedrock or Bedrock AgentCore.
- Open-source, startup or product development experience.
- Master's or PhD in AI, Machine Learning or a related discipline.
