The Lubricants Technical Engineer will be responsible for driving the growth of the company's lubricant range across customer branches nationally, through technical training of customer branch staff and active participation in customer-facing sales activities.
The role combines technical product knowledge with hands-on field support to maximise sales opportunities for the lubricant product range.
The position requires extensive travel throughout South Africa, with approximately 2–3 weeks per month away from home . Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Visit branch networks across South Africa to train branch staff on the features, benefits and applications of the lubricant range
- Accompany customer branch sales staff on field and customer visits to identify and convert opportunities to supply and sell lubricant products
- Provide technical guidance to customer branch staff and their customers on the correct selection and application of lubricant products
- Build strong working relationships with customer branch teams and end-user customers
- Prepare detailed reports on customer branch visits, training conducted, customer engagements and sales opportunities identified
- Stay up to date through ongoing training on the full lubricant product range, including new product launches
- Represent the technical and commercial interests of the lubricant product range within the customer branch network
Requirements
- Experience within the industrial lubricants industry
- Sound understanding of lubricant applications across industrial equipment and processes
- Strong technical aptitude
- Willingness to undergo extensive product training on the lubricant range
- Exceptional planning, organising and reporting skills
- Energetic and self-motivated
- Strong communication skills
- Fluency in English and Afrikaans – essential
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout South Africa
- Comfortable being away from home for approximately 10–20 days per month
- Valid driver's licence
- Willingness to drive long distances
