Introduction

(Figma, Elementor, Webflow, Framer)

Our client is an adventurous web and software development company based in and around South Africa and we are looking for a Low-Code Developer / Digital Designer to join our team.

They’re a team of designers, developers, and product managers who are passionate about building quality software. Their environment is collaborative and relaxed, and as a result we build products that are well considered and well architected, as well as some fun cutting-edge experiments in the experiential space.

We're hiring talented Designers and Low Code Developers who want to build ambitious products using modern tools.

"Low Code Developer" can mean many things. Here, it refers to a person who can build a website, mobile application, or a software solution using low-code tools and technologies as well as support those applications.

We care deeply about quality. Achieving gorgeous and modern designs with exceptional UX is our constant goal. We love collaboration and love having discussions about how solutions can be made simpler, clearer, and safer. We especially love new and emergent technologies and how they can be used to achieve our goals.

We use the right tools for the job. That means that we're always evaluating ways to work smarter and faster and get the maximum amount of joy out of the job. The result is that we use modern tools on a modern stack, and aim to keep pushing forward along with the industry.

Desired Experience & Qualification

What makes a Low-Code Developer / Designer ?

● 5+ years designing and building websites or apps, with a portfolio you can walk us through and explain the decisions behind

● Strong visual craft in Figma. You can take a brand and turn it into something that feels right, not just something that fits the grid

● Fluent in modern build platforms: WordPress with Elementor, Webflow, Framer or others. Two or three is better

● Comfortable enough with HTML, CSS and a bit of JavaScript to fix the things the builder can't do on its own

● Responsive by instinct. Your layouts hold up from a 27" monitor down to a three-year-old Android

● Care about the boring stuff that makes sites good: image weight, load times, colour contrast, keyboard navigation

● Helpful if you can wire a site up to real data using REST APIs, webhooks, or automation tools like Zapier and Make, but our developers are happy to help!

● An eye for motion. GSAP, Motion.Page, Lottie, or whatever you reach for to make a page move without making it slow

● Able to scope your own work, and give an honest estimate

● Keen to share what you learn with the rest of the team on Slack and Asana

● Nice to have: 3D work in Blender or Spline, video editing, or genuine curiosity about where AI tools fit into a design workflow

Package & Remuneration

Our Hiring Process

Cultural fit is just as crucial as having the right skills and our hiring process is designed to ensure that you will be as happy and fulfilled at our company as we will be having you on the team.

The hiring process takes place over three steps

● Chemistry - A meeting with the leadership team so we can get to know each other and get a feel for what it might be like to work together. Bring your portfolio and be ready to talk us through one or two projects you're proud of.

● Practical Test - After a successful chemistry meet, we'll give you a short design and build brief. It shouldn't take longer than a few hours and gives us valuable insight into how you approach a problem, not just how the final thing looks.

● Meet the team - The final step will be to meet the team where they all have a chance to get to know you better and you get a feel for the energy and culture of the company as a whole.

Below are two types of applications we build frequently: a brochure site marketing a client's vision, and a showcase site for an event. We’ve listed example technologies we use for each part of the stack. The more apps you’ve built using the technologies below, the better fit you are. We don't expect applicants to have experience with every technology below.

Many of our current Designers Developers have learned skills from this list on the job.
