Our client is seeking an experienced Logistics & Warehouse Manager to take overall responsibility for the efficient operation and administration of a large-scale distribution warehouse in East London.
This is a senior operational role, managing a warehouse team of approximately 120 employees and overseeing the flow of stock from receiving and processing through to dispatch and delivery to stores. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving productivity, operational stability, accuracy and cost efficiency across the logistics function.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric required; Diploma/Certificate in Logistics, Warehousing or a related field advantageous
- 5–10 years’ experience in a similar Logistics/Warehouse Management role
- Clothing retail or distribution centre experience will be advantageous
- Proven experience managing large teams and driving productivity
- Strong knowledge of warehouse, stock flow, dispatch and logistics operations
- Experience managing external transport providers and fleet operations
- Strong administrative, organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Computer literate with good Microsoft Office skills
- Valid, unendorsed Code 8 driver's licence
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse & Stock Management
- Oversee receiving, processing, picking, packing, dispatch and delivery of stock to stores
- Ensure efficient stock flow while maintaining accuracy and meeting operational deadlines
- Manage stock discrepancies, IBTs, returns, claims and stock losses
- Identify and minimise operational and stock-related risks
- Work closely with Buying, Finance and Operations to optimise stock flow
People Management
- Lead and manage a warehouse team of approximately 120 employees
- Plan and allocate staffing according to workload and operational requirements
- Drive productivity and ensure staffing remains aligned with budgets
- Identify training requirements and support employee development
- Manage employee relations, grievances and disciplinary matters in conjunction with HR
- Promote a productive, stable and harmonious working environment
Cost & Budget Management
- Manage warehouse-related salary and wage budgets
- Control packing, wrapping and other operational costs
- Manage third-party transport costs and service providers
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and minimise waste, loss and unnecessary expenditure
Quality, Accuracy & Efficiency
- Improve warehouse processes, workflows and operating procedures
- Prioritise workloads and communicate operational priorities effectively
- Ensure work is completed accurately and in line with company policies and procedures
- Drive continuous improvement across warehouse operations
Logistics & Fleet
- Oversee company fleet operations, roadworthiness, licensing and maintenance
- Manage and negotiate with external transport and courier providers
- Ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery routes
- Ensure drivers and stores adhere to stock delivery and receiving procedures
- Minimise risks associated with the transportation of stock
Procurement & Store Support
- Manage the procurement and distribution of store consumables and operational supplies
- Oversee the purchasing and distribution of items required for new stores
- Manage company-wide hanger and uniform requirements
- Ensure appropriate stock levels and distribution to stores
