The above position will become vacant in Vredendal reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, Tristan van der Merwe. The overall purpose of this position will be to facilitate, manage and to ensure an efficient warehousing and distribution service with regards to all spheres of warehousing which includes, inter alia, stock management, distribution management and administration, supervising personnel, conducting stock takes etc.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key areas of responsibility will include
- Allocating and managing 3PL Logistics Ex. Vredendal.
- Generating and allocating 3PL loads onto 3PL platform.
- Route optimization and planning of direct load customer purchase orders received.
- Uploading delivery details onto the Linebooker system and arranging the trucks as per need.
- Dispatching drivers and contract drivers to routes after invoices have been checked and verified.
- Manage the unloading of goods and final checking against order forms.
- Planning of warehouse floor and stacking/storing of goods.
- Co-ordinate the goods to be delivered.
- Ensure all drivers and warehouse personnel follow procedures and safety checks on vehicles and within the warehouse environment.
- Managing the relevant personnel who ensure that the correct goods are packed for delivery.
- Organise daily cleaning and duties.
- Receive orders for goods to be delivered.
- Ensure the correct goods are properly and safely packed.
- Ensure equipment is working correctly and provide a safe working environment.
- Advise employers and employees about health and safety management systems and work practises.
- Inspect machinery, equipment, and workplaces.
- Ensure suitable personal protective equipment is provided and is being used correctly.
- Ensure workplaces comply with health and safety legislation.
- Investigate complaints, serious harm incidents and accidents.
- Generating reports with regards to the results of inspections and investigations.
- Serve and action infringement notices as and when required.
- Ensure that doors, windows and gates are locked daily.
- Ensure alarms are enabled when closing the warehouse.
- Reasonable monitoring of live CCTV footage.
- Identify fires or hazards and action accordingly.
- Checking and verification of POD’s from distribution personnel.
- Checking and verification of returns and handing such over to the administration department.
- Liaising with the administration department, production manager, with regards to SKU’s to be produced based on demand.
- Ensure that the bulk warehouse has sufficient space to accommodate inbound production.
- Facilitate weekly production planning meetings with supply chain team and production manager.
- Identify in advance any potential red flags, space constraint and stock shortage affecting load to be dispatched.
- Pallet and divider management, ensuring sufficient levels of both pallets and dividers are available, to avoid production stoppage.
- Managing and arranging reverse logistics from Niew Beverages warehouse nationally and certain key customers nationally. Reverse logistics refers to but not limited to pallets, dividers and expired/damaged stock.
- Checking and verification of credits processed by the administration department.
- Managing and co-ordinating employee administration such as time, inter alia, cards, leave and overtime.
- Facilitating and/or arranging relevant training for new staff members on all spheres relevant to the position.
- Transferring returns received back to the stock department.
- Liaising with the stock department on a daily basis.
- Conducting stock takes as and when required and ensuring that any stock losses are within acceptable Company thresholds.
- Manage returns from customers and returns to the cellar.
- Ensure that guidance and advice is provided in the Warehouse Leader Standard Work meetings.
- Prepare write off stock and transfer such to the hospital store to be destroyed.
- Checking and ensuring that all pickings are correct in preparation for the following days’ deliveries.
- Responsible for the receiving and unpacking of incoming stock.
- Enter details of received delivery slips and invoices into computer.
- Ensure accurate stock records are kept.
- Ensuring all returns (Pallets, Divider Boards and decanted flow bins) are correctly accounted for on receipt from Niew Beverages warehouses nationally.
- Attend weekly key account customers meetings.
- Organise, manage and be present with stock takes in warehouse.
- Responsible for supplying batch numbers of products with stock takes.
- Manage and facilitate inter branch transfers and all third-party collections and arrangements.
- Laise and arrange collections from brand principles and production facilities.
- Scrutinize logistical costs with regards to distribution movements, and provide alternative costs and modes of transportation.
- Manage stock rotation and shrinkages in warehouse.
- Ensure lot number picking is performed and principals of first in first out (FIFO) are adhered to.
- Any other reasonable instruction as and when required.
- Conduct daily warehouse Gemba walks to ascertain hazards, improvements and general visibility.

Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 Matric and Supply Management degree or relevant logistics management course.
- At least 5 years’ experience in FMCG.
- Own reliable transport and/or be in possession of valid SA Driver’s Licence.
- Preference will be given to candidates who reside in Vredendal.
