Job Title: Logistics Manager - Papua New Guinea (INTERNATIONAL POSITION) Start Date: 2026-08-28 - 2026-09-27 Vacancy Type: Permanent PTA002001 Sectors: Logistics, Warehouse & Freight Location: Papau New Guinea , Lea Salary: $3500 (US) - $4000 Monthly Brief: Role Purpose The Logistics Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient management of the organisation's transport and logistics operations, including fleet, drivers, contractors, systems and transport planning. The role ensures the safe, reliable and cost-effective movement of feed, fuel, finished goods and general cargo, while maintaining fleet availability, controlling transport costs, managing operational risks and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The incumbent will work closely with Planning, Workshop, Warehouse, Production and other operational departments to ensure transport resources are aligned with business requirements and that service levels are consistently achieved. Key Responsibilities Transport Planning & Operations Manage the Transport Department and coordinate high-volume weekly transport movements using internal fleet and third-party contractors. Develop daily and weekly transport plans based on available fleet, driver and contractor capacity. Match transport capacity to operational demand and proactively identify and escalate constraints. Monitor on-time collections and deliveries and implement recovery actions where required. Coordinate with Planning and operational departments to ensure transport requirements are executed as scheduled. Journey & Unloading Management Manage Journey Management Plans, routes, driver and vehicle allocations and ETD/ETA performance. Monitor journey execution and ensure feed and other cargo movements are collected, transported and unloaded as planned. Investigate delays, exceptions and operational disruptions and implement corrective actions. Fleet & Asset Management Maintain accurate fleet status, asset and vehicle records. Monitor fleet availability, utilisation, inspections, breakdowns and vehicles that are out of service. Coordinate with Workshop to ensure preventative maintenance and repairs are completed according to schedule. Monitor fleet replacement requirements and contribute to strategic fleet planning. GPS, Fuel & Cost Control Monitor GPS data, vehicle movements, speeding, fuel consumption and excessive idling. Investigate abnormal activity, vehicle or fuel misuse and operational inefficiencies. Monitor and control transport expenditure and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency. Driver & Employee Management Recruit, roster, train, manage and motivate drivers and transport personnel. Conduct performance management, appraisals and disciplinary processes where required. Ensure drivers hold valid licences and are competent and authorised to operate assigned vehicles. Develop and implement effective driver training programmes. Safety & Compliance Enforce pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, journey management, fatigue management and load security procedures. Ensure compliance with traffic legislation, company safety requirements and relevant regulatory standards. Investigate accidents, incidents, unsafe driving and compliance breaches. Implement and monitor corrective actions to reduce preventable incidents and violations. Contractor Management Plan and manage third-party transport requirements where internal fleet capacity is insufficient. Monitor contractor service delivery, safety, turnaround times, utilisation and cost performance. Ensure contractor expenditure is justified and controlled. Address performance deficiencies and ensure agreed service levels are achieved. Reporting & Performance Management Maintain accurate transport and fleet records. Prepare regular KPI reports covering transport movements, fleet availability, driver performance, contractors, fuel consumption, breakdowns, safety and costs. Monitor operational performance against agreed targets and proactively escalate exceptions. Use operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement. Continuous Improvement & Procurement Identify and implement improvements to transport processes, fleet utilisation, service delivery and operating efficiency. Review fleet capacity, vehicle specifications and equipment requirements. Liaise with suppliers regarding transport assets and equipment. Support fleet replacement initiatives, procurement activities and strategic logistics planning. Detail: Role Requirements Qualifications Tertiary qualification or relevant trade certification. Ability to develop training manuals and conduct training workshops. Good command of English, with willingness to learn the local language. Experience Minimum 10 years' experience in a management role, preferably within transport and logistics. Proven experience managing fleet, drivers and/or third-party transport contractors. Experience in transport planning, operational performance and cost control. Skills & Competencies Strong leadership and people-management skills. Hands-on, self-motivated and energetic approach.
