Start free — we apply for you →- Our client, a leading South African manufacturer of processed meat products supplying major retailers, wholesalers and food-service customers, is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to manage end-to-end logistics across four factories. The role is responsible for warehousing, transport, distribution, inventory and cold-chain integrity, with a strong focus on service delivery and cost control.
Minimum Qualifications
- Matric / Grade 12 essential, Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or Operations preferred
- Proven logistics management experience within FMCG, food manufacturing or cold-chain distribution
- Multi-site warehouse and transport management experience
- Strong knowledge of inventory control, transport planning and 3PL management
- Working knowledge of food safety, traceability and cold-chain requirements
- Strong Excel, ERP/WMS/TMS and reporting skills
- Proven team management experience
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel
- Meat or perishable goods experience advantageous
Key Responsibilities
- Manage inbound raw materials, inter-factory transfers, warehousing and outbound distribution across four factories
- Plan and manage own-fleet and outsourced transport to meet customer delivery requirements
- Ensure cold-chain compliance and product integrity throughout the distribution process
- Oversee warehouse, dispatch, inventory accuracy, picking and loading operations
- Manage 3PL and transport contracts, rates, service levels and claims
- Work closely with Production, Procurement, Quality and Sales to align supply and customer requirements
- Monitor logistics KPIs, costs, inventory and service levels and drive continuous improvement
- Lead, develop and roster warehouse, dispatch and logistics teams across multiple sites
- Implement and maintain SOPs covering receiving, storage, dispatch, returns and traceability
- Identify opportunities to improve routing, capacity utilisation, backhauls and overall cost-to-serve
