Logistics and Procurement Controller

• An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Logistics and Procurement Controller to join a well-established business. The successful candidate will oversee international freight movements, import and export processes, and cross-border shipments, ensuring cost-effective, compliant and timely delivery of goods. Experience in sea and air freight, customs clearing and exports into Africa is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate sea and air imports from India and other international suppliers through to warehouse delivery

• Obtain and negotiate freight rates, monitor shipment progress and manage clearing agents

• Oversee export shipments to African markets, including cross-trade orders, customs documentation and compliance requirements

• Review freight and clearing invoices and ensure duties, VAT and landed costs are accurately recorded

• Support procurement with purchase orders, incoming stock schedules and supplier follow-ups

• Maintain accurate shipment records, update ERP / inventory systems and compile monthly freight cost and delivery performance reports

• Identify opportunities to reduce freight costs and improve shipping efficiency

Requirements

• Matric

• Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Freight Forwarding or Purchasing

• 3–5 years' experience in import / export logistics, freight forwarding or supply chain control

• Practical knowledge of sea and air freight, customs procedures, export documentation, Incoterms, duties and VAT

• Exposure to cross-border trade into Africa and cross-trade / drop-shipment arrangements

• Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP or inventory systems; Zoho experience advantageous

• Excellent negotiation, organisational and communication skills, with strong attention to detail

• Freight forwarding or customs certification advantageous

• Experience in manufacturing or distribution, particularly PPE or industrial products, preferred

• Valid driver's licence
