Logistic Practitioner (Mines)

Purpose of the Job Execute and monitor daily chrome ore movement, loading and blending activities in accordance with approved plans, standard operating procedures and metallurgical requirements. The role is responsible for monitoring ore quality, ROM and product stock levels, coordinating material flow between mine sections, transporters and plants, and reconciling chrome ore movements to support stable plant feed, dispatch compliance and customer requirements. BALANCED SCORECARD PILLARS, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY: Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc. Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.) Comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox) Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status us PEOPLE: Supervise the Team: Ensure an enabling climate/culture Maintain labour stability by minimising labour turnover Labour complement in line with budget Manage performance against set targets and competencies Ensure IDP’s are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan Conduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent (quarterly) Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.) Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels Conduct recruitment interviews BUSINESS PROCESSES: Quality and Plant Feed: Monitor chrome ore quality indicators, including grade, moisture and particle size, and escalate non-conformances that may affect plant feed stability or dispatch requirements. Execute approved ore movement and blending plans and make operational adjustments, within delegated authority and SOP requirements, to maintain agreed metallurgical feed parameters. Oversee chrome ore dispatch sampling activities, including sampling programmes and schedules, to support reliable quality control and reporting. Loading: Implement daily chrome ore loading and blending plans in line with plant capacity, metallurgical requirements, stock availability and customer order requirements. Monitor chrome ore dispatches, daily tonnes loaded against target, turnaround time at loading points and adherence to dispatch schedules. Coordinate with mine sections, shift coordinators, yellow machine service providers, transporters, weighbridge clerks and plant operators to maintain effective and continuous material flow. Stocks: Monitor ROM and product stock levels across plants, smelters and order requirements, including safety stock levels and stockpile availability. Manage practical stockpile logistics by directing ore movement in the field within approved plans, procedures and operational constraints. MES System: Maintain data integrity within chrome ore systems. Monitor the MES system and notify the relevant responsible person of any system or process non-conformances. Reporting: Compile daily chrome ore stock, dispatch and production movement updates. Report on daily dispatches, production movements, shift summaries, operational logs and yellow machine performance. Reconciliation: Oversee the reconciliation of road and rail consignments for internal, local and export movements and communicate relevant information to Marketing, Central Logistics, smelters and beneficiation plants. Maintain risk management reports and investigate deviations in accordance with applicable procedures. SHAREHOLDER VALUE: Support shareholder value by maintaining stable plant throughput, minimising grade deviation from approved plans, improving loading turnaround time and ensuring that tonnes loaded are aligned with daily production and dispatch target.
