Job Description

  • The successful candidates will provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy services to sub-acute patients and assist with outpatient services when required. Applicants may indicate their preferred facility and availability.
  • This opportunity is ideal for Occupational Therapists who are passionate about rehabilitation and want to work within a reputable, supportive and dynamic multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of newly admitted sub-acute patients and develop individualised treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, doctors, nurses and speech therapists, to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Focus on improving patients' functional independence, including activities of daily living such as dressing, feeding, hygiene, transfers and mobility.
  • Implement rehabilitation programmes aimed at maximising patient recovery.
  • Conduct regular reassessments and adjust treatment plans when required.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate documentation of assessments, treatment plans and patient progress.
  • Prepare patients for discharge and make recommendations regarding home modifications or continued outpatient rehabilitation.
  • Educate and support family members regarding the patient's ongoing care at home.

Requirements

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registered as an independent practitioner with the HPCSA.
  • Malpractice insurance and CPD compliance with the HPCSA.
  • MoCA certification.
  • Up-to-date BLS training.
  • Proven post-community service experience.
  • Experience in neurology, orthopaedics and wheelchair seating.
  • Basic wheelchair seating training and Bobath or neurological short courses would be advantageous.

  • Proficient computer literacy.

Specific Requirements

  • Own reliable transport and a valid driver's licence.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Two written references.
  • Availability to provide locum support during 2027.
