ENVIRONMENT

  • A trusted leader in the logistics industry, the company efficiently transports goods across South Africa and is recognised for its reliability, safety and exceptional service.
  • Through a well-maintained fleet, advanced systems and optimised long-haul routes, they provide timely, compliant and dependable freight solutions. They are seeking a Fleet Controller to oversee fleet operations, including route planning, vehicle maintenance, driver management and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Working Hours are from 06:00am to 18:00pm, Monday to Friday.

DUTIES

Operational Oversight

  • Plan, manage, and optimise line haul schedules to ensure timely deliveries and maximum resource utilisation.
  • Monitor the movement of vehicles, ensuring adherence to planned routes and schedules.
  • Collaborate with dispatchers, fleet controllers and branch managers to maintain seamless operations.

Fleet Management

  • Ensure the line haul fleet is well-maintained, compliance with regulations, and operationally efficient.
  • Coordinate with the workshop to schedule routine services and resolve vehicle breakdowns promptly.
  • Track and report on fleet utilisation and fuel efficiency to drive cost savings.

Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure all line haul operations comply with company policies, industry standards, and local and national transportation regulations.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, motivate, and manage line haul drivers and support staff to ensure high levels of performance and accountability.
  • Foster strong communication and teamwork across the operations department.

Customer and Stakeholder Communication

  • Work closely with customers to ensure service delivery meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Address and resolve service issues or delays in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on line haul performance.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 / Matric Qualification non-negotiable.
  • Proven experience in transport industry, with a minimum of 3 years in fleet planning and control.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
