PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To safely load and transport ore, material and explosives by means of a Load Haul Dumper.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 or NQF 4 Equivalent is essential

• LHD Certificate

• 1-3 Years LHD Operator experience

COMPETENCIES

• Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.

• Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.

• Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.

• Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in the workplace.

• Demonstrate understanding of the importance of safe and efficient transport processes in an underground hard rock environment.

• Demonstrate knowledge of the most common harmful gasses and vapours.

• Demonstrate and understanding of the relevant terminology used in mining-range of underground hard rock.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Checks mobile equipment at start of shift and at end of shift for any defects.

• Operates the mobile equipment in accordance with laid down procedures.

• Maintains the mobile equipment in good order.

• Reports defects to the supervisor and Maintenance Department.

• Loads ore at production area.

• Transports ore safely to tip and conveyor areas.

• Transports and distributes explosives using Heavy-Duty Explosives Vehicle.

• Adheres to rules and regulations of underground transport.

• Maintains housekeeping standards in area of responsibility.
