- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Develop course material for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching modules.
- Provide expertise in Functional Analysis, Abstract Algebra, Discreet Mathematics or any other discipline in Pure Mathematics.
- Perform teaching-related and departmental administrative duties.
- To engage in inter-departmental and/or inter-faculty collaborative research in order to generate cross-disciplinary engagement and research outputs.
- To supervise honours and/or Master's projects.
- Interact with relevant industry groups, government departments and independent research institutes where applicable to further the goals of the Department and of the University
CORE COMPETENCIES
- Possess sound knowledge of undergraduate level Mathematics in fields such as Functional Analysis, Abstract Algebra and Discreet Mathematics
- Have experience at facilitating learning at undergraduate level, must be willing and able to teach large classes 100 - 400 students, and be able to coordinate the teaching of large classes.
- Possess the academic ability and personality to teach at all levels of the undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
- Possess excellent communication skills to engage internal and external stakeholders in departmental endeavours, for teaching and report writing.
Sound research skills demonstrated through
- Presented at local and/or international conferences.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum qualification is a Master's degree relevant to the field of Pure Mathematics.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant working experience, including lecturing experience in the field of Pure Mathematics.
- At least one presentation at a conference.
- Willingness to register and complete a PhD in Pure Mathematics within the next 5 years. A PhD degree or proof of enrolment for a PhD will be advantageous.
