Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Lecturer
- A Master's degree in Nutritional Sciences or equivalent
- Base qualification in Consumer Science or equivalent
- At least two years' working experience one of which must be in teaching
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
- Ability to teach and assess various topics in the Consumer Science Programme, specifically Nutrition, Food Science with basic culinary/practical experience, New Product Development, Food-related legislation e.g. labelling, food hygiene, health and safety in line with relevant legislation, Research Methodologies, Sensory Evaluation, Quality Control
- Curriculum and programme development
- Quality Assurance
- Evaluation and development of learning material
- Academic administration
- Academic development and management
- Monitor and assess work integrated learning
- Industrial alliance and partnerships and community engagement
- Research record
- Assist with marketing and recruitment strategies
- Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department

- Student support and development - proven record in tracking student progress, supporting and coaching underperforming students

- A track record of research leadership and competence in conceiving research projects by identifying needs in the Food and Nutrition sector
- Excellent organisational and planning skills to coordinate postgraduate and undergraduate supervision
- Ability to work within a diverse team of academics and laboratory technicians
