- Grade 10 or NQF equivalent.
- National Certificate or Higher Certificate NQF Level 5 in Waste Management, Environmental Management, or a related field.
- Valid Code C1 10 Driver's Licence with a valid PrDP.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 1–2 years' relevant experience in landfill or waste management operations.

KNOWLEDGE
- Sound knowledge of landfill operations and waste disposal practices.
- Knowledge of the National Environmental Management: Waste Act, 2008 Act No. 59 of 2008.
- Knowledge of landfill permit/licence conditions and environmental compliance.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 Act No. 85 of 1993.
- Knowledge of waste minimisation, recycling and integrated waste management principles
- Understanding of plant, machinery and equipment utilised at landfill sites.
DUTIES
- Supervise the day-to-day operations of the municipal landfill site in accordance with approved operational procedures and licence conditions.
- Plan, allocate, supervise and monitor the work of landfill personnel.
- Ensure compliance with landfill licence conditions, environmental legislation, municipal by-laws and operational standards.
- Monitor waste acceptance procedures and ensure that only authorised waste is disposed of at the landfill site.
- Coordinate waste compaction, covering and disposal activities to maximise landfill airspace and operational efficiency.
- Conduct routine inspections of the landfill site and identify operational, environmental and safety risks.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and promote a safe working environment.
- Supervise the utilisation and maintenance of landfill plant, machinery, equipment and infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate records of waste quantities, site activities, equipment utilisation, incidents and daily operational reports.
- Promote recycling, waste diversion and environmental awareness initiatives.
- Perform any other duties related to landfill operations as delegated by the Manager.
