Start free — we apply for you →Our client in the mining industry is seeking two experienced and safety-conscious Laboratory Supervisors to oversee laboratory personnel and daily shift operations at its mining operation near Rustenburg.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science.
- National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or BSc in Chemistry.
- ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Laboratory Management System training.
- ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Internal Auditing training.
- At least five years experience in a production laboratory.
- Proven experience implementing and maintaining an ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Management System.
- Experience within an ISO/IEC 17025:2017-accredited laboratory.
- Experience operating and developing analytical methods using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF).
- Experience with ICP-OES and wet chemistry analysis.
- Sound knowledge of sampling, sample preparation and sample-handling procedures.
- Must be willing to work shifts.
- Must be medically fit.
- Candidates must arrange their own transport to and from work.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise laboratory personnel and coordinate daily shift activities.
- Manage employee performance, training, competency, attendance and overtime.
- Ensure accurate sampling, sample preparation, testing and reporting.
- Conduct planned task observations and maintain quality-control standards.
- Monitor analytical accuracy and investigate deviations.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory procedures, customer specifications and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
- Assist with XRF method development, calibration and validation.
