Duties & Responsibilities

Join a technology-focused team where you will contribute to the ongoing development, maintenance, and support of database-driven web applications and operational systems. This role combines SQL development, web application development, troubleshooting, technical support, data management, and site implementation activities, offering excellent exposure across multiple technology disciplines. Working closely with Software Development, Site Support, business stakeholders, and operational teams, you will help ensure applications remain stable, secure, and aligned with business requirements. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, test, and troubleshoot web applications and browser-based user interfaces

• Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server database functionality to support business applications

• Create and troubleshoot SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and database scripts

• Maintain and optimise databases to ensure performance, reliability, and security

• Perform integration testing and validate changes before deployment

• Execute and support data migrations during upgrades and new site implementations

• Manage database security, access control, backups, and maintenance activities

• Provide first-line application and technical support to users

• Investigate and resolve system, application, performance, and database-related issues

• Create custom reports and support business data requirements

• Assist with stock investigations, data analysis, and reconciliation activities

• Support new-site deployments and application rollouts

• Work directly with business users to gather requirements and implement system improvements

Job Experience and Skills Required

• Education: Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification

• Experience:

• 3–5 years' experience in SQL development, database support, web development, application support, or a related role

• Experience developing and supporting database-driven web applications

• Experience working within operational or business-critical environments

• Technical Skills:

• Microsoft SQL Server

• T-SQL Development

• SQL Queries, Stored Procedures, Views, and Functions

• HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

• Web APIs and Server-Side Development

• Database Administration and Maintenance

• Database Security and Permissions Management

• Integration Testing and Data Migration

• Technical Documentation and Change Management

• Advantageous:

• Exposure to multi-site application environments

• Inventory, Warehousing, ERP, VMI/VMS, or Stock Management Systems

• Reporting and Business Intelligence Solutions

• API Integration and System Integrations

• Software Releases, System Upgrades, and Site Implementations

• Experience within Mining, Logistics, Warehousing, Industrial, or Operational environments

• Additional Requirements:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to troubleshoot logically and resolve issues independently

• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced support environment

• Proven ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
