Start free — we apply for you →An exciting opportunity is available for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our client's established quantity surveying consultancy in Cape Town. This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse range of building and construction projects, gaining valuable exposure to professional quantity surveying, cost management, and project commercial processes within a consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with cost estimates, cost plans, budgets, and quantity surveying documentation for building projects.
- Assist with the preparation and measurement of bills of quantities and tender documentation.
- Monitor project costs and provide support throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Assist with interim valuations, variation orders, payment certificates, and final accounts.
- Assist with tender analysis, procurement, and contractor evaluations.
- Prepare cost reports, financial information, and project documentation.
- Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Provide support to Senior Quantity Surveyors and project teams on commercial and cost management matters.
- Maintain accurate project records and ensure quantity surveying deliverables are completed accurately and timeously.
- Utilise industry-standard quantity surveying software to support project cost management and reporting.
Requirements
- Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification, such as a BSc, BTech, or National Diploma in Quantity Surveying.
- 3–6 years' experience within a consulting quantity surveying environment.
- Strong experience in quantity surveying across building and construction projects.
- Proficiency in DimX and WinQS .
- Good understanding of cost management, measurement, tender documentation, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a professional multidisciplinary team.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- SACQSP registration or progress towards professional registration will be advantageous.
