Our client, an established and growing Quantity Surveying consultancy , is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Quantity Surveyor to join their professional team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified Quantity Surveyor or candidate with a few years of experience who is looking to develop their career within a professional consulting environment and gain exposure to a diverse range of construction projects.
The successful candidate will work closely with experienced Quantity Surveyors and project professionals, gaining exposure to projects from initial feasibility and cost planning through to procurement, construction and final account .
Duties & Responsibilities
Quantity Surveying
- Assist with measurement and preparation of Bills of Quantities
- Assist with cost estimates and cost plans
- Prepare and maintain project cost reports
- Assist with tender documentation and procurement processes
- Analyse contractor and supplier quotations
- Assist with tender evaluations and recommendations
- Prepare and review valuations and payment certificates
- Assist with variation orders and claims
- Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets
- Assist with cash-flow forecasting and cost reporting
- Maintain accurate project cost records
Project & Commercial Support
- Attend project and site meetings where required
- Assist with monitoring project progress and financial performance
- Review contractor applications for payment
- Assist with assessing variations and contractual claims
- Assist with the preparation of final accounts
- Liaise with contractors, suppliers, consultants and clients
- Maintain professional project documentation and records
- Support senior Quantity Surveyors with commercial and contractual matters
Desired Experience & Qualification
- BSc / BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification
- 0–3 years' relevant experience
- Experience within a Quantity Surveying consultancy will be advantageous
- Strong understanding of construction principles and measurement
- Knowledge of standard methods of measurement and construction contracts
- Good Microsoft Excel skills
- Familiarity with Quantity Surveying software will be advantageous
- Strong numerical and analytical abilities
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver's licence will be advantageous
- Willingness to travel to project sites when required
