Junior Platform Engineer

About the Role

• We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Junior Platform Engineer to join our growing technology team.
• This role is ideal for an individual with a passion for software development, enterprise platforms, and system optimization. The successful candidate will help support, enhance, and maintain business-critical platforms while ensuring high levels of stability, performance, reliability, and availability.
• Working closely with developers, business analysts, solution specialists, DevOps engineers, and support teams, the Junior Platform Engineer will contribute to platform enhancements, technical problem-solving, integration development, and the delivery of scalable software solutions that support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Development & Enhancement

• Develop, configure, and maintain platform functionality and system enhancements.
• Support the implementation of new features, integrations, and business requirements.
• Assist with application configuration, customization, and development activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and platform modernization initiatives.

Platform Stability & Support

• Monitor platform performance, health, and availability.
• Investigate and resolve application defects, incidents, and performance issues.
• Participate in root cause analysis and implementation of preventative solutions.
• Support platform maintenance activities and production support requirements.

Software Engineering

• Develop high-quality, maintainable, and scalable software solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
• Support all phases of the software development lifecycle.
• Ensure development standards, security principles, and best practices are followed.

Integration & Data Services

• Support and develop system integrations and APIs.
• Assist with troubleshooting and resolving integration issues.
• Ensure reliable and secure data exchange between systems and platforms.

Performance & Optimization

• Identify opportunities to improve platform performance and reliability.
• Support optimization and tuning of applications and services.
• Contribute to reducing technical debt and improving maintainability.

Collaboration

• Work closely with business and technical teams to deliver platform solutions.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and delivery activities.
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• National Diploma, Degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.

Experience

• 1-3 years' experience in software development, application support, platform engineering, or a related technical role.
• Exposure to enterprise applications, system integrations, or software delivery environments.
• Experience working in Agile delivery teams will be advantageous.

Technical Knowledge

• Basic proficiency in one or more programming languages e.g., Java, C#, .NET, JavaScript, Python.
• Understanding of APIs, integrations, and software development principles.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with Git or other source control tools.
• Exposure to cloud platforms Azure, AWS, or GCP is advantageous.
• Understanding of application support, troubleshooting, and performance optimization concepts.
