  • We are seeking a suitably qualified Junior Plant Hire Manager to work under the guidance and supervision of our current Plant Hire Manager, providing support with the day-to-day coordination of plant, operators and drivers across our various projects. The role will offer exposure to plant logistics, resource allocation, equipment availability, compliance, administration and communication between sites, workshops and supporting departments.
  • These areas are aligned with the responsibilities outlined below and the position is intended as a development opportunity for an individual who has the appropriate experience and potential to grow within the Plant Hire function while supporting the Plant Hire Manager with the effective running of his departmental responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Plant Logistics and Resource Coordination

  • Plan, allocate and coordinate the deployment of plant, operators and drivers across project sites.
  • Manage plant movements, redeployments and resource allocation in line with operational requirements.
  • Monitor utilisation levels and respond to breakdowns, shortages and changing site demands.
  • Forecast plant requirements and coordinate equipment availability for upcoming projects.
  • Ensure plant, vehicles and operators are ready for deployment and operational requirements.

Operator, Driver and Compliance Management

  • Supervise operators and drivers across multiple projects.
  • Monitor attendance, performance, timekeeping and workforce utilisation.
  • Maintain records of licences, certifications, medical fitness and competency requirements.
  • Coordinate licence renewals, medical assessments and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure only competent, medically fit and authorised personnel are deployed.

Service Scheduling, Safety and Operational Compliance

  • Coordinate service schedules, maintenance requirements and equipment readiness with Workshop personnel.
  • Monitor service intervals, licensing requirements and equipment compliance records.
  • Ensure compliance with the OHS Act, Road Transport Act, Construction Regulations and company procedures.
  • Participate in safety meetings, audits and incident reporting processes.

Communication, Reporting and Administration

  • Liaise with Site Agents, Workshop personnel, Plant Administration and operational teams regarding plant requirements and logistics.
  • Maintain accurate records of plant movements, allocations, attendance and compliance documentation.
  • Prepare utilisation, operational and compliance reports.
  • Support plant hire administration and ensure audit-ready documentation is maintained.
  • Communicate operational updates, scheduling changes and resource requirements to relevant stakeholders.

Education

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  • Relevant training or certification in logistics, operations or supervision.

Experience

  • Experience managing plant, operators and driver logistics within a construction environment.
  • Experience coordinating plant allocation, transport logistics and workforce deployment across multiple sites.

Added advantages

  • Experience managing large-scale plant and transport operations.
  • Diploma in Logistics, Fleet Management or a related qualification.
  • Code EC driver's licence.
