A well-established Industrial Automation Company is looking to employ a Junior Mechanical Engineer to be based at its branch in Pinetown, Durban.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with mechanical design and development of equipment, assemblies and engineering solutions.
- Prepare and update mechanical drawings, layouts and technical documentation.
- Assist with equipment selection, sizing and specifrication of mechanical components.
- Support the integration of mechanical components with electrical, instrumentation and automation systems.
- Participate in engineering calculations, technical evaluations and design reviews.
- Assist with project planning, technical problem-solving and implementation.
- Liaise with suppliers and assist with obtaining technical information and quotations.
- Assist with project tendering.
- Conduct site visits and assist with inspections, measurements and commissioning activities.
- Assist with troubleshooting mechanical issues during installations and commissioning.
- Ensure designs and documentation comply with applicable engineering standards and company requirements.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and engineering records.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- BEng/BSc/BTech Mechanical Engineering or related qualification.
- Minimum 1-3 years' relevant engineering experience.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Strong interest in industrial engineering, automation and multidisciplinary engineering projects.
- Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
- Computer-aided design (CAD) experience.
- Abiity to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.
- Good computer literacy, including MS Office.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Reliable, punctual and professional.

- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
