Junior Mechanical Draughtsman

Duties and Responsibilities

• Create and update detailed mechanical drawings using CAD software.
• Prepare manufacturing and assembly drawings in accordance with engineering standards.
• Assist engineers and senior draughtsmen with design modifications and project documentation.
• Ensure all drawings are accurate, complete, and aligned with project specifications.
• Maintain drawing registers and engineering documentation.
• Liaise with production teams to resolve drawing-related queries.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.
• Conduct drawing revisions and updates as required.
• Assist with the preparation of bill of materials (BOMs).
• Ensure compliance with company quality and safety standards.

Minimum Requirements

• National Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Draughting, or a related field.
• 1-3 years' experience in a mechanical draughting environment.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
• Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

Advantageous

• Experience within a manufacturing, fabrication, or engineering environment.
• Knowledge of sheet metal, machining, or structural design principles.
• Exposure to 3D modelling and design software.
• Understanding of engineering standards and drafting best practices.
