We are partnering with a leading engineering and manufacturing business seeking a Junior Mechanical Designer to join their design team. This is an opportunity for a driven graduate or early-career engineer to work alongside experienced professionals in the development of specialized machinery, production equipment, fixtures, and innovative engineering solutions. You'll be involved in the complete design process, from concept development and calculations through to detailing, manufacturing support, and final implementation. What You'll Be Doing
- Assisting in the design and detailing of custom mechanical systems and special-purpose machinery
- Developing practical engineering solutions aligned to project specifications
- Performing engineering calculations, including stress, force, and accuracy assessments
- Supporting machine design validation through analysis and simulations
- Creating detailed manufacturing and release documentation
- Working closely with senior engineers throughout the design process
- Supporting assembly and implementation activities during project execution
- Providing cost-saving ideas and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
- Assisting with engineering change requests, tooling, and fixture design
What We're Looking For
- National Diploma, BTech, Bachelor's Degree, or higher qualification in:
- Mechanical Engineering, or
- Mechatronics Engineering
- 0 to 2 years' experience in a design environment
- Exposure to mechanical design principles and engineering calculations
- Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and machine design fundamentals
- Knowledge of FEA, FMEA, or design analysis methodologies would be advantageous
- Valid Code 8 driver's license
- Fluent in English
- Afrikaans communication skills advantageous
- German language skills beneficial
