Start free — we apply for you →About the Role Our client is looking for a Junior IT & Satellite Systems Technician to join their Cape Town team. The client provides IT and satellite systems support onboard ships and at mining operations.
Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will receive training and gradually take responsibility for:
- Providing basic IT technical support and troubleshooting.
- Installing, configuring and maintaining IT equipment.
- Supporting routers, Wi-Fi networks and network connectivity.
- Assisting with cabling and basic network infrastructure.
- Supporting satellite communication and onboard IT systems.
- Performing technical installations and maintenance onboard ships and at mining sites.
- Troubleshooting hardware, software and connectivity issues.
- Assisting senior technicians with technical projects and installations.
- Travelling locally and internationally to customer sites.
- Working in different and sometimes remote environments.
- Learning and developing technical expertise across IT, networking and satellite technologies.
- Following technical procedures, health and safety requirements and customer-specific requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- A+ / N+ or equivalent IT qualification.
- Desktop Support knowledge and experience.
- General understanding of IT equipment and infrastructure.
- Knowledge of:
- Routers
- Wi-Fi
- Networking
- Cabling
- Hardware and peripherals
- Basic troubleshooting
- Valid driver's licence essential.
- Must be eligible and able to obtain/hold a valid passport for international travel.
- Good communication and interpers
