This opportunity is not a remote/hybrid working position and requires a dedicated full-time resource at the office – Monday to Friday    /  Standby – 1 Week a Month

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Electrical (Mainly)

• Assist with electrical installation, maintenance and repair of industrial machinery and equipment

• Perform basic electrical fault-finding under appropriate supervision

• Work with motors, sensors, switches, contactors, relays and electrical control components

• Assist with wiring and installation of electrical control panels and field devices.

• Read and interpret basic electrical drawings and wiring diagrams

• Test electrical circuits and components using appropriate test equipment

• Assist with the installation and replacement of electric motors, VSDs, sensors and other electrical equipment

• Identify electrical faults and report findings clearly to senior technicians

• Carry out preventative electrical maintenance

• Ensure electrical work is completed safely and according to applicable standards

Mechanical

• Assist with the installation, servicing and repair of industrial machinery.

• Perform basic mechanical fault-finding

• Assist with the removal and installation of motors, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, rollers and similar components

• Carry out basic alignment and adjustment of mechanical components

• Assist with conveyor maintenance and repairs

• Use hand tools and power tools safely and correctly

• Perform basic drilling, grinding, cutting and fitting work where required

• Understand basic mechanical drawings and equipment layouts

• Assist senior technicians and millwrights with machine installations and breakdowns

Desired Experience & Qualification

Requirements

• Completed Matric – essential

• Completed relevant Degree / Diploma (e.g., in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field) – essential

• Own transport with a valid drivers license – a must have

• Must be willing to travel regularly, including to remote client sites

• Must be well spoken and able to engage at all levels

• Fluent in English. Proficiency in Afrikaans would be a plus

• Strong communication and reporting abilities

• Ability to work independently and take initiative

• Attention to detail and problem-solving mindset

• Reliable, professional, and safety-conscious

• Must be comfortable working in industrial environments, including cement plants and other dusty or dirty conditions

• Familiarity with safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe working environment

• Electrical experience must include PLC fault finding, panel wiring and motor control systems

• Background in bulk material handling machinery, including maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and installation is a plus

• Basic understanding of industrial electrical systems

• Good mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform mechanical work

• Ability to use electrical test equipment such as a multimeter

• Ability to use general mechanical hand and power tools

• Basic understanding of electric motors and industrial machinery

Package & Remuneration

The Position: We’re looking for a talented Junior Electrician to be based permanently in Longmeadow, Edenvale. The pay range on offer is a CtC (benefits included) between R12 000.00 to R15 000.00 Per Month, based on skills, tech experience and qualifications plus weekly standby allowance.
