About the Role A leading mining equipment OEM is looking for a Junior Design Engineer for its Alrode engineering hub. You’ll start in 3D CAD draughting and grow into design, simulation and site work, with occasional visits to open-cast mines.
Key Responsibilities
- Create CAD drawings, manage PLM models and maintain Bills of Material
- Generate concepts, design and reverse engineer products
- Run FEA (plus DEM/MBD as needed) and interpret results for product optimisation
- Scan components on site (FARO laser scanning) and process point-cloud data
- Join sales on site visits as a technical advisor and help with presentations and simulation videos
- Support commissioning, troubleshooting and failure inspections
- Contribute to design reviews, ISO implementation and technical reports
Duties & Responsibilities
Requirements
- B.Eng in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering
- 0–3 years’ experience (mining or design background is an advantage)
- Familiarity with CAD, with exposure to FEA/CAE a plus
- Able to read and interpret technical drawings
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Team player, self-motivated and able to work independently
- Physically able to perform site duties
