Role Purpose
The Junior Data Analyst will support the analysis, interpretation and reporting of data, with a strong focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), data usage, trends and emerging insights within the South African market . The role will assist in transforming raw data into meaningful insights that support business decisions, identify trends and improve the understanding and use of data and AI.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, validate and analyse data from various sources.
- Assist with the preparation of regular and ad hoc reports, dashboards and data visualisations.
- Analyse data usage, patterns, trends and performance to identify meaningful insights.
- Support the identification of opportunities to improve data quality, reporting and data utilisation.
- Assist with AI-focused analytics, including exploring how AI tools and technologies can be applied to data analysis and business processes.
- Monitor emerging AI and data trends relevant to the South African market.
- Analyse datasets to identify trends, anomalies, correlations and opportunities.
- Assist with developing and maintaining dashboards and analytical reports.
- Translate data findings into clear and understandable insights for internal stakeholders.
- Support data-driven decision-making by providing accurate and timely analysis.
- Work with internal teams to understand data requirements and analytical needs.
- Assist with tracking and analysing customer, product, operational or platform usage data.
- Conduct research into AI, analytics, automation and data-related developments.
- Assist in testing and evaluating AI tools, models and analytical solutions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of data sources, methodologies and analytical outputs.
- Ensure data is handled accurately, responsibly and in accordance with applicable data protection and governance requirements.
- Identify opportunities for automation and improved efficiency through AI and data analytics.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant qualification in Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Economics or a related field.
- 1–2 years’ experience in data analysis, business intelligence, data science or a related analytical environment.
- Strong interest in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and emerging AI technologies .
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
- Exposure to SQL and/or database querying is advantageous.
- Exposure to Power BI, Tableau or other data visualisation tools is advantageous.
- Basic understanding of statistical analysis, data modelling and data visualisation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good attention to detail and ability to identify trends and anomalies in data.
- Ability to communicate complex data findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong research skills and an interest in emerging technology and AI trends.
- A proactive, curious and solutions-oriented approach to working with data.
- South African market and business environment knowledge will be advantageous.
- Must be comfortable working with large datasets and learning new analytical and AI tools.
