A company operating within the Energy and Electrical Solutions sector seeks a strong solutions-driven Junior Automation & Technical Support Engineer to join its team. You will assist customers and internal teams with selecting the correct Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) and motor control equipment for specific industrial applications, provide first-line technical assistance while handling general automation-related technical queries from clients. The ideal candidate will need a Degree/Diploma/N6 qualification in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience). You will also require a strong foundational interest or practical exposure to Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), motor control, PLCs, or industrial automation. Applicants must be currently residing in Cape Town & be fluent in English and Afrikaans.
DUTIES
Product Support & Selection -
- Assist customers and internal teams with selecting the correct Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) and motor control equipment for specific industrial applications.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting -
- Provide first-line technical assistance, fault diagnosis, and troubleshooting for clients regarding VSDs, automation controllers, and general drive applications.
Customer Advisory & Engagement -
- Handle general automation-related technical queries from clients and provide clear, solution-focused guidance.
Product Expertise & Continuous Learning -
- Deepen technical knowledge of the product range, electrical drive systems, and broader industrial automation trends.
Business & Product Growth -
- Collaborate with the broader technical and sales teams as the automation product line grows across regional enterprise clients.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications –
- Degree / Diploma / N6 in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
Experience/Skills –
- A strong foundational interest or practical exposure to Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), motor control, PLCs, or industrial automation.
- Applicants must be currently residing in Cape Town.
- Must be fluent in English and Afrikaans.
