The main responsibilities of the incumbent will, inter alia, include
- Assist in conducting investigations regarding possible contraventions of the Act and relevant advocacy activities.
- Assist in conducting research and policy analysis of the regulatory landscape and make recommendations.
- Assist in conducting advocacy research and investigations to support the Commission's objectives.
- Act as a representative of the Commission within the framework of the Competition Act when communicating with business, consumers, employer/ employee representatives and other government agencies.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Commission's Strategic Plan, Annual Performance Plan and the Division's Business Plan.
- Contribute to the efficient administration of the Division through compliance of protocols, procedures and systems, including knowledge management.
Requirements
We are looking for a dynamic, hardworking and a committed individual who meets the following requirements:
- A completed NQF Level 8 qualification or equivalent in Economics, Law or Social Sciences.
- A Masters Degree in Economics, Law or Social Sciences will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a competition, public policy, or legislative environment.
- Experience in competition law and economics an added advantage.
- Ability to conduct research and undertake complex investigations within multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in information gathering and analysis.
Other considerations
- Practical work exposure to area of expertise, such as sector regulation or competition law or economics, will be an added advantage.
