Our client is seeking an AC Technician (HVAC Technician) to join their dynamic Facilities & Maintenance team. This entry-level role supports the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and basic installation of air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation systems across the property. Working under the supervision of senior technicians, you play a key role in ensuring HVAC systems operate efficiently, safely, and with minimal disruption to guests or operations.
Key Responsibilities Routine Maintenance & Support
• Assist with inspections and maintenance of HVAC systems, including filters, coils, condensers, compressors, motors, thermostats, and ductwork. • Replace and clean air filters, grills, and vents in guest rooms and public areas. • Monitor and report unusual noise, performance issues, or potential system failures. Repairs, Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
• Support senior technicians in fault-finding and performing minor repairs under supervision. • Learn to identify and address system issues such as poor airflow, refrigerant leaks, or electrical malfunctions. Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM)
• Participate in scheduled PPM activities for building services equipment. • Complete maintenance checklists and log work in OMNI or internal systems. • Ensure service areas remain safe, clean, and well-organised after tasks. Safety & Compliance
• Follow all hotel safety and compliance procedures, particularly when working with refrigerants, electrical systems, or in confined spaces. • Use PPE correctly and adhere to lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures. • Ensure all work complies with building regulations and health & safety standards. Tools & Equipment Care
• Clean and return tools after use. • Report damaged or missing equipment immediately. • Assist in organising spare parts and transporting tools when required. Guest Room & Public Area Protocol
• Enter guest areas only with permission or supervision. • Announce yourself clearly and maintain professionalism. • Keep workspaces neat and free of obstructions to guest access. Teamwork & Development
• Collaborate with HVAC technicians, Facilities Maintenance, and Engineering teams. • Communicate progress, request guidance when needed, and contribute to toolbox talks and training sessions. • Demonstrate eagerness to learn and develop technical trade knowledge. Qualifications & Requirements
• NQF Level 3 or equivalent in Refrigeration / Air Conditioning (or currently enrolled in a trade program). • Technical or vocational training in HVAC or Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) preferred. • 1–2 years of experience in a similar role, internship, or apprenticeship program. • Previous exposure to hospitality, healthcare, or large building facilities maintenance is an advantage. • Strong attention to detail, discipline, and willingness to learn. • Ability to work within a team and follow supervisor instructions. • Must hold a valid South African ID.
