About the Opportunity

We are seeking two experienced Project Engineers to join a multidisciplinary engineering environment supporting major mining and minerals projects.

We are currently recruiting for

  • A Project Engineer – Studies: Responsible for engineering coordination and project delivery across mining studies, from concept and scoping through to feasibility and detailed study stages.
  • A Project Engineer – EPCM: Responsible for multidisciplinary engineering coordination across EPCM projects, supporting projects from detailed engineering through procurement, construction and commissioning.

Both positions require candidates with strong mining experience, preferably including underground mining projects , and the ability to coordinate technical work across multiple engineering disciplines.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Depending on the position, responsibilities will include

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities across civil & structural, mechanical, electrical, process, EC&I and other specialist disciplines .
  • Plan, monitor and coordinate engineering deliverables against project schedules and key milestones.
  • Maintain engineering deliverables registers, action lists, technical queries and interface registers.
  • Manage technical interfaces between engineering disciplines, clients, contractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
  • Identify engineering risks, constraints and potential design conflicts and ensure these are addressed proactively.
  • Support project planning, progress measurement, reporting, change management and technical scope control.
  • Coordinate technical reviews, design reviews, interdisciplinary checks and comment close-out.
  • Prepare and review engineering documentation, scopes of work, technical specifications, reports and project deliverables.
  • Support procurement activities, including technical requisitions, supplier documentation reviews and technical bid evaluations.
  • Participate in risk assessments, HAZOPs and other technical workshops where required.
  • For EPCM projects, provide engineering support during construction, commissioning and site activities , including technical queries, punch-list close-out and resolution of site issues.
  • For studies projects, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, technical evaluations, design development, option assessments and study deliverables.
  • Communicate project progress, technical risks, interfaces and required actions to project managers and discipline leads.
  • Ensure engineering work complies with applicable standards, project specifications, quality requirements and client expectations.
  • Travel to project sites when required.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

  • BEng, BSc Engineering or BTech qualification in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Process or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years' post-graduate engineering experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in mining, minerals processing or resources projects .
  • Experience on underground mining projects , infrastructure, shafts, mine services or processing facilities.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary engineering, project or EPCM environment .
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate engineering deliverables and manage technical interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of project controls, including scheduling, progress tracking, change management and reporting .
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Willingness to travel to mining and project sites as required.

Advantageous Experience

  • Experience across the mining project life cycle, including concept studies, feasibility studies, detailed engineering, construction and commissioning .
  • EPCM or consulting engineering experience.
  • Construction or commissioning/site-based experience.
  • ECSA registration as a Candidate Engineer or progress towards Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration.
  • Formal project management training or certification.
  • Experience with engineering document management systems.
  • Familiarity with Navisworks or 3D model/design review platforms .
  • Experience coordinating engineering work across multiple disciplines and external contractors/suppliers.

Package & Remuneration

R80 000 - R120 000 per month, plus annual performance based bonus.
