Java Developer Cape Town

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to contribute to the development and enhancement of robust, scalable software solutions. This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned technology professional with extensive Java development experience and strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, containerisation and database technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain and enhance Java-based applications and backend services.

• Write clean, efficient, scalable and maintainable code in line with development best practices.

• Work with MySQL and PostgreSQL databases to support reliable data storage and retrieval.

• Develop and maintain applications deployed in containerised environments using Kubernetes.

• Leverage AWS services to support application deployment, scalability and performance.

• Troubleshoot technical issues, identify root causes and implement effective solutions.

• Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver appropriate solutions.

• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Contribute to application architecture and the development of reliable, high-performance systems.

Minimum Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience, with strong Java expertise.

• A BSc degree or equivalent relevant qualification.

• Strong knowledge of Java development and backend application design.

• Experience working with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL.

• Practical knowledge of Kubernetes and AWS.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
