This is a leadership role responsible for ensuring the delivery of secure, reliable, and efficient IT services while maintaining a strong focus on customer experience, operational performance, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will lead infrastructure operations, manage service delivery performance, oversee support functions, and drive strategic initiatives across server and end-user computing environments. Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a key role in identifying trends, resolving recurring issues, and implementing improvements that enhance the overall technology landscape. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on leader who combines technical expertise with strong people management skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the daily operations of the Server and Desktop Support teams.
- Ensure infrastructure availability, performance, and reliability across all environments.
- Manage team workloads and ensure timely resolution of incidents, problems, and service requests.
- Analyse service desk trends and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
- Oversee server infrastructure, storage, backups, and disaster recovery processes.
- Drive improvements in end-user support, device lifecycle management, and service quality.
- Act as an escalation point for critical technical incidents.
- Manage and deliver infrastructure-related projects according to agreed timelines and objectives.
- Provide reporting, insights, and recommendations to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with governance, security, and risk management requirements.
Job Experience and Skills Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant industry certifications will be advantageous.
- 5 to 10 years of hands-on technical infrastructure experience.
- Minimum 4 years of experience managing technical teams.
- Strong experience within server, desktop support, and end-user computing environments.
- Experience working with ticketing systems and service management processes.
- Proven experience managing operational projects and service improvement initiatives.
- Exposure to cybersecurity practices within infrastructure environments.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux server environments.
- Experience with virtualisation technologies, backup solutions, and disaster recovery.
- Solid understanding of desktop operating systems and end-user technologies.
- Knowledge of IT service management principles and best practices.
- Understanding of information security frameworks and governance requirements.
