IT INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGER

Introduction

The IT Operations Manager will be fully responsible to plan, direct and design OBARO’s IT infrastructure while simultaneously managing the IT team responsible for maintaining the infrastructure. This role primarily involves the proactive creation of a stable technology environment and where issues exist, respond within the agreed service levels to the internal clients. The successful candidate will report to the Group IT Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the Technical Support Department, including managing staff, to ensure the stable operations of the group’s ICT infrastructure;

• Maintain quality according to set technical standards and client acceptance and manage escalated customer support issues;

• Manage, monitor, and maintain the current server, network, internet, VOIP, database and IT security environments according to agreed OBARO standards;

• Management of a team of desktop technicians, network and server engineers, database administrators, IT security specialists and all IT vendors and their agreed services;

• Oversee the implementation of IT systems;

• Ensure that IT risks are always managed proactively;

• Manage and maintain all IT assets;

• Adhere to and improve corporate IT policies and standards to ensure good governance is maintained;

• Ensure continuous communication and liaison with internal and external clients;

• Assist, support, and mentor IT staff in executing infrastructure projects;

• Ensure continuous improvement of the IT environment;

• Management of IT Infrastructure budget; and

• Development of Security strategy and implementation of security policy.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Microsoft, VOIP, Security, Server, and Networking experience;

• Proven infrastructure management experience;

• Proven project leader/management on projects;

• Proven Cloud solutions experience;

• Proven IT governance track record (ITIL knowledge/certification advantageous);

• A minimum of at least 3 years in a managerial role;

• Linux experience advantageous;

• Minimum of Grade 12 qualification;

• A relevant tertiary qualification will be advantageous;

• Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English (verbal and written communication);

• Strong computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office;

• Valid driver’s license and reliable own transport will be a minimum requirement;

• Willingness to work extended hours and on weekends; and

• Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
