- Relevant degree in Agriculture
- 5 years experience in crop production
- Strong knowledge of forage crops, soil science, and sustainable farming practices.
- Proven leadership experience in managing diverse teams and large-scale operations.
- Monitor and track crop progress, making strategic decisions to improve yields and quality;
- Work closely with senior leadership to develop long-term strategies for sustainable farming practices and growth;
- Ensure compliance with all agricultural regulations and environmental practices;
- Ensure implementation and management of compliance audits and systems;
- Manage budgets, resources, and equipment to maintain efficient farm operations;
- General maintenance of the farm
- Strong communication skills
- Valid drivers licence
Duties and responsibilities
- Lead financial planning activities, including the preparation of cash flows and management of irrigation budgets to ensure effective strategy and resource allocation.
- Manage and lead a team of employees, including junior section managers, foremen to ensure smooth operations and goal attainment.
- Manage all aspects of crop production, including soil management, planting, soil analysis, leaf analysis, irrigation and harvesting of 500 ha for Maize silage, Sunflower, Pastures and Pecan trees under irrigation.
- Manage irrigation schedules and water resources effectively to optimize crop growth and yield.
- Manage the application of agrochemicals in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Implement precision agriculture techniques and sustainable farming practises for optimum profitability.
- Oversee mechanical maintenance to ensure the proper functioning of farming and irrigation equipment.
- Facilitate the harvesting/silage of crops and manage post- harvest processes.
