- Developing client relationships across mining corporates, developers, producers and financial sponsors active in the sector.
- Screening prospective clients and evaluating new M&A and capital raising mandate opportunities within the sector.
- Preparing pitch materials, sector thought pieces and business development presentations tailored to metals & mining and commodity themes.
- Assisting the negotiation of new advisory mandates.
- Building and reviewing financial and valuation models, including sector-specific approaches such as life-of-mine DCF and NPV models, resource and reserve-based valuations, commodity price assumptions and NAV multiples.
- Preparing information memoranda, teasers and other transaction marketing materials.
- Supporting negotiations on behalf of clients and coordinating closely with legal, technical and competent persons' / independent expert advisers throughout transaction execution.
- Maintaining and expanding relationships with existing clients and specialist mining and resources investors.
- Collaborating closely with colleagues across Company`s IMAP's regional offices.
- Contributing to firm-wide business development and metals & mining sector coverage initiatives.
- Supporting ancillary businesses, including hedging and trading,
- The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the growth of the firm's metals & mining franchise and to broader business development initiatives.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of investment banking or corporate finance experience and must have prior transaction experience within the metals & mining or wider natural resources sector. The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong technical capabilities across financial analysis, valuation and transaction structuring, combined with a working understanding of mining-specific metrics and how exploration, development and producing assets are valued.
- A proven ability to build relationships with corporate clients, financial sponsors and specialist mining investors, and to originate and execute mandates.
- Familiarity with the deal types relevant to the sector, including M&A, equity capital raising, project and debt finance and royalty and streaming structures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working alongside colleagues across the firm's regional offices.
Strong skills using technology.
- Experience within an investment bank, corporate finance advisory, private equity or resources-focused fund, with sector exposure to precious metals, base and battery metals, bulk commodities or mining services considered a strong advantage.
