  • Macsteel Tube & Pipe is seeking a detail-oriented, process-driven Inventory Controller to implement and maintain all inventory control related activities. The successful candidate will execute inventory control measures to minimise stock holding and maximise stock system effectiveness, ensuring the efficient and effective utilisation of the MRP, inventory control / management systems, and ERP. This role suits a meticulous individual with strong analytical ability, sound product knowledge, and a proven track record of maintaining stock accuracy and integrity.

Minimum Requirements

  • National Senior Certificate Grade 12 - essential
  • NQF Level 4-5 Higher Certificate in Administration - essential
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an inventory control / operations environment - essential
  • Experience within a steel, manufacturing, or industrial environment
  • Products knowledge essential
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate MS Word and Outlook
  • Strong SAP / other ERP system knowledge and experience essential

Duties and Responsibilities Stock Control and Management

  • Manage and control perpetual inventory stock counting / inventory accuracy checks.
  • Minimise overstocks and removal of obsolete / redundant raw materials to maximise availability of working capital.
  • Implement and manage all planned stock takes.
  • Ensure integrity and accuracy of the stock management system.
  • Ensure material is prepared and dispatched as and when required.
  • Ensure incoming material is receipted and managed according to company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate written procedures for all main inventory control processes and functions
  • Implement control measures to ensure that late material or material holding up production is processed, investigated, and resolved until complete and received.
  • Manage control measures to ensure mistakes, inaccuracies and discrepancies are highlighted, investigated, and resolved.
  • Investigate all inventory variances. Recommend corrective action when required.

Inventory and Stock Control Reporting

  • Obtain information, check for accuracy, and capture data. File documents per procedure.
  • Produce daily reports to ensure key critical areas of the stock system are controlled and any discrepancies addressed and resolved.
  • Obtain, check, and refine information. Collate and submit reports. Run data exception reports and take corrective action.

Governance, Compliance and Risk Management

  • Adhere to statutory regulations, organisational standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Report non-compliance and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance.

Stakeholder Relations

  • Build, support, and maintain interpersonal and team relationships to ensure a stable working environment and achievement of team objectives.
