- The Internal Sales position at Mecer Inter-Ed is responsible for supporting revenue growth through proactive client engagement, lead follow-up, quotation management, order processing, and ongoing customer relationship management.
- This role serves as a vital link between the customer and the business, ensuring that enquiries are handled professionally, opportunities are converted into sales, and service delivery is efficient and customer-focused. The position contributes directly to sales performance, customer retention, and overall business growth.
MAIN DUTIES
Sales Generation
- Proactively identify and pursue sales opportunities through inbound and outbound customer engagement. Follow up on leads, enquiries, and quotations to convert opportunities into sales.
Client Communication
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing timely and accurate responses to enquiries relating to products, pricing, stock availability, quotations, and order status.
Quotation and Order Processing
- Prepare accurate quotations in line with approved pricing and product information. Process customer orders efficiently and ensure all required supporting documentation is completed correctly.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with existing and prospective clients to drive repeat business, improve customer satisfaction, and support long-term loyalty.
Sales Support and Coordination
- Work closely with external sales representatives and internal departments, including finance, logistics, procurement, and administration, to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction.
CRM and Data Management
- Capture, update, and maintain accurate client information, sales activities, quotations, and opportunities in the CRM system and related business systems.
Pipeline Management and Follow-Up
- Monitor outstanding quotations, pending deals, and open sales opportunities. Conduct regular follow-up with clients to maintain momentum in the sales pipeline and improve conversion rates.
Product and Market Knowledge
- Maintain sound knowledge of Mecer Inter-Ed's products and services to effectively communicate features, benefits, and suitable solutions to customers. Remain informed on customer needs and market trends relevant to the business.
Problem Resolution
- Address and resolve customer queries, concerns, and sales-related issues promptly and professionally, escalating matters where necessary to ensure resolution.
Reporting
- Prepare accurate and timely reports on sales activity, quotations, conversions, customer interactions, and pipeline status as required by management.
Professional Development
- Continuously improve product knowledge, sales capability, and systems understanding through ongoing learning and development initiatives.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Ensure that all activities are performed in accordance with company policies, procedures, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
AD HOC DUTIES
- Carry out various sales-related and administrative duties, beyond those listed above, as may reasonably be required from time to time
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- A qualification in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 1–2 years' experience in an internal sales, customer service, sales support, or similar role.
- Experience working with CRM systems, sales software, quotation systems, and order processing systems.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with accounting, ERP, or related business systems will be advantageous.
Knowledge
- Understanding of internal sales processes and customer service principles.
- Knowledge of quotation preparation, order processing, and sales administration.
- Familiarity with customer relationship management systems and sales tracking tools.
- Sound understanding of sales support functions and their contribution to revenue generation.
- Basic knowledge of market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity relevant to the business.
- Knowledge of business administration, record-keeping, and reporting practices.
