We are looking for an Intermediate Java Developer to join a major BSS modernisation programme within the telecommunications sector. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract offering the opportunity to work on large-scale, business-critical systems within a Scrum/Agile environment.
The role is hybrid and is suited to a Java Developer with 4–6 years’ commercial experience and strong experience across Java, SQL, Linux and containerised environments.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Build and maintain Java services on a large-scale telecoms billing and operations platform.
- Write and optimise complex SQL queries across multiple database engines.
- Deploy and support containerised services on Linux environments.
- Integrate systems using message queues and enterprise integration patterns.
- Facilitate FAT and UAT sessions directly with customer teams.
- Deliver solutions within a Scrum/Agile team using Git.
- Develop and maintain services using Java, J2EE and Spring.
- Perform scripting, server administration and deployments using Linux and Bash.
- Work with Docker and Kubernetes for container deployment.
- Work with message queueing technologies such as RabbitMQ or ActiveMQ.
- Work with J2EE containers and web servers.
- Perform testing activities, including FAT, UAT facilitation and Postman.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Relevant IT qualification, such as BSc Computer Science, BSc IT or similar .
- 4–6 years’ commercial Java development experience .
- Strong Java development experience, including J2EE and Spring .
- Strong SQL experience, including complex and optimised queries.
- Experience with one or more of MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL or PostgreSQL .
- Experience with Linux and Bash , including scripting, server administration and deployments.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes deployment.
- Experience with message queueing technologies such as RabbitMQ or ActiveMQ .
- Experience with J2EE containers and web servers .
- Experience with Git and Scrum/Agile delivery methodologies.
- Testing exposure, particularly FAT, UAT facilitation and Postman .
- Willingness to work on a hybrid basis.
