Intermediate Developer

Introduction

A 24-month fixed-term contract opportunity is available for a Developer within an IT Systems environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for software development, application enhancements, database-related development and testing, with a strong focus on C#, ASP.NET, Microsoft SQL, TypeScript/JavaScript and modern web development .

The ideal candidate will have 3–6 years of professional development experience , with experience in object-oriented programming and relational databases. Experience with Python and data analytics, as well as mobile development techniques, will be advantageous.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform software and data development/configuration in accordance with established development, testing and implementation tools, standards and procedures.

• Design software application changes based on provided specifications, company standards and best practices, while meeting acceptable performance criteria.

• Maintain and modify software applications by obtaining the required approvals, updating documentation, implementing application changes and conducting unit testing.

• Develop and execute unit and system integration testing.

• Create and maintain documentation for new and modified applications and procedures in accordance with applicable standards.

• Evaluate the interrelationships between applications, modules and databases and effectively manage potential impacts.

• Liaise with users to understand required changes or modifications to existing applications and requirements for new applications.

• Provide on-call support and problem resolution for applications where required.

• Share knowledge and experience with other team members.

• Establish agreed time estimates for allocated tasks and self-manage delivery accordingly.

• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

• Apply sound problem-solving, analytical and conceptual thinking when investigating and resolving technical issues.

• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team while maintaining a strong customer service focus.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Post-Matric qualification in Software Development or a related field, or equivalent professional experience .

• 3–6 years of professional software development experience using object-oriented programming languages and relational databases.

• Professional development experience with Microsoft ASP.NET (C#) .

• Professional experience with Microsoft SQL .

• Professional experience with TypeScript and/or JavaScript .

• Experience with a modern web component framework such as React, Angular, Vue or Web Components .

• Good knowledge of modern web development techniques.

• Knowledge of established software development languages, methodologies, database applications and development environments.

• Knowledge of IT standards, procedures and current technology trends relevant to the area of expertise.

• Experience across systems analysis, software development, databases, testing, implementation and application support.

• Strong organisational, problem-solving, analytical and interpersonal skills.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to investigate and analyse information and draw sound conclusions.

• Ability to work accurately and thoroughly while adhering to standards, procedures and specifications.

• Knowledge-sharing, training and coaching capabilities.

• Good planning, goal-setting and time-management skills.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure, both independently and within a team.

• Python and data analytics experience will be advantageous.
